What SAT score are you required to apply to Duke? Scholastic Aptitude Tests (SAT) are standardized tests that high school students take to help them evaluate their readiness for college. They also give data to colleges that can be used to make comparisons of applicants.
College admissions officers will look at your high school GPA, high school subjects, letters of reference from mentors or previous instructors, extracurricular activities, essays and other personal information.
Each institution will place different weights on SAT scores relative to applying to universities and colleges. Many students will opt to use the test-optional policy in 2021. To be admitted to Duke University, you must score 1570. A score below 1510 would mean you are not among the accepted students. Duke University will accept applicants with a score of at least 1450 on SAT. However, it is not necessary for you to achieve this score.
Duke requires that you take the SAT Subject Test.
Duke does NOT require that students take the essay portion of SAT. Although students are not required to take SAT Subjects Tests, Duke "strongly suggests" that they submit scores for at least two Subject tests to support their Duke GPA and SAT requirements. The SAT Subject Tests were a separate part of the SAT Suite of Assessments. These tests were standardized and focused on specific subjects. You were evaluated on your comprehension of the material you had studied in class.
There were twenty tests in total. Each student could take no more than three SAT Subject Tests at any one time. The College Board organized the SAT Subject Tests in five major categories: English, science and mathematics.
Is Duke a Scorechoice member?

You should only focus on improving your Reading score, if it is lower than the scores you received on the other sections. Next, pay attention to math in order for you to succeed on the next test. This will ensure that you achieve your highest possible Superscore.
Is Duke requiring SAT in 2022?
Is Duke requiring SAT scores for admissions to 2022? Duke required that applicants submit either their SAT/ACT scores to apply for the admissions process for the academic years 2020-21. Duke University decided that prospective students will not need to take standardized tests because they were unable to access them due to COVID-19.
Duke administrators decided to maintain the test-optional policy during the current academic year due to unpredictability regarding testing availability in 2021. Also, COVID-19 continues to disrupt Duke's operations. For the 2021-2022 schoolyear, both first-year and transfer students will have the opportunity to decide whether or not they want their test scores considered.
Our application process does not penalize students who cannot submit their SAT/ACT scores, or choose not to. The holistic evaluation of our applicants has always included the SAT and ACT scores as one component.
Our review considers many factors in addition to the SAT/ACT scores.
Standardized tests will remain an important part of Duke University's admissions process. Additionally, the university will continue evaluations of their impact on recruiting and enrolling students from historically underrepresented groups.
The university will still consider a student's SAT/ACT scores if they include them in their Duke application. Self-reported scores are still accepted in order to evaluate an application. Only students enrolled at Duke can submit scores from testing organizations.
What GPA are you required to be a Duke student?
What GPA are you required to be admitted at Duke? Although there are many schools that require minimum GPAs, most of them are not required. However, they can be used to help you submit your application and avoid rejection.
Grade point average is what really matters. It is the minimum GPA needed to be eligible for admission to the school. We use the school's average grade points average to determine the value of this average. According to data supplied by applicants, Duke University's average grade-point average is 4.13. Duke University doesn't publish information about the GPAs of admitted students.
Duke University requires that an unweighted GPA of 4.13 is achieved. This would place you in the top tier of your classes. To be competitive against other applicants, you must have near perfect grades in all your classes. Additionally, you will need to show that your academic abilities can be mastered by taking challenging classes such the Advanced Placement or International Baccalaureate.
If you are a junior, senior or a high school graduate, it will not be easy to raise your grade-point average in the time you have for college applications. To make up for a lower grade point average of 4.13 or less, you will need to score higher on the SAT and ACT. It will allow you to compete more effectively against applicants with higher GPAs.
What is an unweighted GPA?
Grade point averages are determined by using an unweighted system. An unweighted grade average is calculated by using a scale from 0 up to 4. This does not account for the difficulty of the coursework a student must complete. An A is equivalent to a 4.0 unweighted grade-point average, regardless of whether it was earned in honors, Advanced Placement, or lower-level classes.
High schools use weighted grades point averages frequently to accurately reflect students' academic achievements. The weighted GPA is different from a letter grade to a grade point average conversion. It considers the difficulty of each student's courses. A scale of 0 to 5 is the most common way to calculate the weighted grade points average, but some scales can go higher.
Achieving an A in Advanced Placement classes will result in a 5.0 weighted average. Achieving an A or better in regular-level classes will result in a 4.0 GPA. Many schools also offer classes at the middle level, such as honors. The highest possible weighted GPA is 4.5.
Admissions committees will consider your grade point and coursework in order to determine your academic potential. They also know that some classes are more difficult than others.
If you're not a perfectionist in academics, colleges will consider you a better applicant for admission to colleges than someone who was able to take regular-level classes while still maintaining a 4.0 grade point average.
You may find it harder to differentiate yourself from other students in the class if you have a GPA that is at the same level, as there will be more students with GPAs of the same level if class difficulty has not been taken into account. Your unweighted GPA is not the best indicator of how hard you worked.
Students who take more AP classes might be more motivated academically. They may also have lower unweighted GPAs than students who take classes at a lower level.
It's not something you should be worried about. College admissions officers understand the limitations of unweighted systems. They will look at your course record closely to determine if you have a high academic potential.

The 2023 school year saw the highest number of applications to Duke University. For the Class 2023, there were 41 613 applications. The university eventually accepted 3,064 applicants. The overall acceptance rate is 7.4%. The total number applied for was up 11.6 percent over the last year (2022-2023), when it rose from 37.302 to 41.613.
882 students were accepted into 2023's Class through the initial admissions process. There were 4,852 applications in the preliminary pool, which led to an 18.2 percent early acceptance rate. The number of applications received in the first year of 2022-2023 rose 18.6 percent from 4,090 submissions to 4,852.
