ASU received applications from 34.188 students for admission in the Fall 2020. ASU admitted 29,562 applicants.
This means that this year's acceptance rate was 86.5%.
Around 34% of those accepted students ultimately decided to enroll. 52.5%, however, declined admission to the school.
The 2016-2017 academic year saw an increase of 4% in the acceptance rate, which was 82.5%.
Since then, ASU's acceptance rates have risen steadily.
Some sources indicate that the accepted rate for the 2022-2023 academic years is around 79%. This estimate is based only on historical trends in college admission statistics and may change over time.

ASU's student population is composed of around 49.6% Arizonans and a slightly larger number of students from out-of state.
18.1% of ASU's online students are Arizona residents. The remaining 21% are from outside the state.

ASU admissions are not based on a GPA. However, accepted ASU applicants have an average weighted GPA that is 3.54.
ASU's admission requirements differ from those of other colleges in that they do not have a set number of requirements. However, instead, they have requirements for course competency.
These competency requirements are met via high school classes or college courses.
All students must have a minimum GPA 2.0 in each competency area, regardless of their intended degree program.
English, maths and laboratory science are the most common areas of competence.
As long as applicants do not have deficiencies in math or laboratory science, they may be admitted.
Two groups of students are eligible to be exempted from the competency requirement.
One is for students who have received an associate degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education with a grade point average of 2.0 or more for Arizona residents and 2.50 for nonresidents.
The competency requirements for Arizona General Education Curriculum graduates who have a minimum of 2.0 or 2.5 GPA (for residents and out-of state students) are exempt.
SAT & ACT Requirements For Arizona State University
ASU does require ACT or SAT scores to be admitted.
Students who have taken one or more of these standardized exams may submit their scores to ASU for purposes of course placement.
Students can request College Board or ACT to submit their test scores automatically when they register to take the test. Scores can be sent to ASU by these same entities, though there might be a fee.
ASU admits half of students with SAT scores between 1100-1320, or ACT scores between 21-21.
ASU will require applicants to meet four requirements for admission, even though test scores are not required.
The SAT score for residents and non-residents must be 1120 or 1180 respectively. Or, an ACT score should be 22 or 24.
These guidelines are not required for students who have never taken the SAT/ACT. Students who don't meet the requirements can still fulfill the aptitude requirement by taking one of these two courses.
Admission Tips and Other Requirements for ASU
ASU applicants must meet the above four aptitude requirements.
These requirements include a SAT score of 1120 for residents and an ACT score 22 for students outside of the state.
The aptitude requirement can be met by students who have at least one of these scores.
These requirements are guidelines, according to the college. However, students who don't meet these standards can still be admitted on a case by case basis.
ASU students must be aware that aptitude requirements vary depending upon the program they are pursuing. It is therefore prudent to search ASU's degree search to find out what you need.
ASU recommends that prospective students apply as soon as possible. To speed up the admissions process, students can submit their grades electronically rather than sending a transcript.
In order to be admitted to classes, you will need an official transcript. The self-reported grades must match what is in the transcript.
Essays to Arizona State
ASU does no require personal statements or essays for applicants in their first year.
ASU allows students to apply online via the Common Application or Coalition Application. None of the applications are preferred by schools.
Both the Coalition Application and Common Application have a variety of essay prompts. However, ASU's admission process does not require that applicants respond to any of these prompts to be admitted.
While applicants may submit a written addition to their ASU applications, it is not required. It is possible for them to make a request.
A majority of ASU's professional and graduate programs require applicants submit a personal statement.
